  • New Year. Same Garden.

    New Year. Same Garden.

I don’t have resolutions, but my path is beautiful.

Hey hey. First, I hope you are having the new year that you need. Whether you follow the January 1st calendar, the March 20th calendar, or any other calendar, I trust you are feeling at peace, reflective, excited, and everything in between.

I know this season can carry a variety of emotions for you. I wanted to share with you an interesting reflection I noticed in myself this season. Something I feel could resonate with you.

Years ago, I did try to stick to New Year’s resolutions. I would write them in my journal or start a new document on my laptop. And as the year passed, they would fade into the background. Then, in 2017, I started using Pinterest to create a New Year’s board. It felt fun to visualize my goals and ideas, and easier to look back on. But, again, reality did not match the nicely curated board.

For some reason, moving from 2020 to 2021, I stopped.

My focus shifted to writing in my journal to reflect on what I was grateful for in the previous year and what I was trusting the following year would be better. No list. No demands.

Funny that this was around the time I started creating my business, Bandele Muse.

Looking back, I really did not know what I was signing up for. The amount of inner, outer, and in-between-er learning, unlearning, and relearning I proceeded to experience went beyond any resolution I could have created.

The more I wanted this creation to exist, the more I had to recondition my self-beliefs and self-stories. Have you ever asked yourself what your relationship is to success? Money? Creativity? Pivots? Time? or Privilege? Have you ever had to identify your self-critic? Have you ever had to work with the wrong people to learn how to identify the right people? Have you ever had to release your grip on control?

But, at the same time, have you ever realized how brilliant you are? Have you ever felt a wave of joy first thing in the morning? Have you ever felt fulfilled growing closer to God (or the higher power you believe in)? Have you ever smiled at the beauty around you? Have you ever felt like congratulating yourself without knowing what you are celebrating? Have you ever felt empowered in everyday things?

It was like I was in a cocoon, not knowing how my wings would turn out. But also, not knowing, I volunteered to be in a cocoon in the first place.

Then, moving from 2024 to 2025, I felt inspired to create a Pinterest board for my new year. Before I realized, the board had over 200 pins covering every aspect of my life. More than any other new year board or journal I had done before. I felt encouraged by this, still not knowing what to expect.

Now, as I am slowly and deeply breathing into 2026, I don’t feel like creating a new board.

Here is where the interesting reflection comes in.

I looked back at the Pinterest board I created for 2025. As I was scrolling through the images and quotes, I felt myself starting to check (or question) if this is my reality. Then I received a realization. These are seeds. This is what we have to look forward to. These are teasers to the next chapters and seasons of my life. My focus should be on nurturing these seeds. Creating and embodying the environment that allows these seeds to blossom. Learning and aligning to maintain and share these blossoms.

And I feel that is why I have no resolutions this year.

You see, the board I created for 2025 is not focused on the job, the house, the car, and the vacation. It is focused on experiences, community, beliefs, creations, beauty, impact, and alignment…just to name a few.

It’s like when the shift in my focus expanded, the clarity and trust deepened. Does that make sense?

So, I would like to give you an assignment. If you choose to accept it.

Regardless of how positive, negative, or neutral you are feeling in this season, take a moment to check in with yourself. Is your focus too small? Are you limiting your perspective to what is in front of your nose, instead of recognizing what is beyond your horizon? Have you given yourself enough credit for how far you have come? Have you allowed yourself to release what is no longer for you? Are you being intentional in listening to that whisper?

Take note of what your perspective tells you.

You, too, have a beautiful garden to tend to this year.

  • Let’s Embody What You Deserve With Ease

Let’s Embody What You Deserve With Ease

Every new year or cycle, I like to choose a word that describes the intention behind that new experience. At this time, my words are embody and ease.

Of course, I have the perfect incident that happened recently to share with you. Story time.

I edited a few photos and video clips to post together as a carousel on Instagram. I already wrote my desired caption on my phone. I uploaded the photos and videos…I think there were 6 in total.

Before moving on to the caption, the Instagram app opened another window stating “this would be a great reel. Let us create one for you to try out.” I had never seen this before. Naturally, I was curious. So I pressed “ok.”

The app created a 30-second reel with the photos switching quickly and the video slightly cropped with a very generic tinny song playing in the background.

For a moment, my mind went into fix-it mode. Ok…what song should I choose?….what mood should I portray?….how do I change the speed of the photos?…what text should I add? Then, I paused. How did I allow this app to give me more work to do on my time? Also, this reel did not illustrate the story and message I wanted to share. Instead, this reel felt performative, bland, and uninspiring. The exact opposite of what I wanted to share.

So, can you guess what I did? I deleted the app. I’m kidding. I’m not that dramatic…most of the time. Actually, I canceled the reel, reuploaded my photos, videos, and caption, and posted what I wanted.

This is the energy I intend to start carrying more. Anything that does not align with the reality I desire to embody and the ease I deserve to feel…I respectfully decline. This is something I have been experimenting with for almost a year now. Would you like to hear more about it? Ok, let’s unpack it.

Instead of having a list of things I want or looping on things that did not work out, I have been focusing on how I want to feel with what I desire. I have given myself permission to desire things I have never had before. That is a big one. How can you embody what you have never experienced? What if you do not have an example of success, love, being on the winning team, having no financial concerns, substantially making an impact, belonging to a community, and/or maintaining boundaries that actually resonate with you?

It’s not easy. I have been using my vivid imagination. Even with that, limited beliefs bubble up to the surface at every other step. But, I have learned that this is a sign of progress. Now that I am on this side of the journey, I feel more comfortable with the unknown. More grateful for the present. More open to receive. It’s a really beautiful experience.

Thus, for this new year, cycle, or chapter (however you prefer to define your time), I hope and trust you embody:

    …the abundance you deserve,

    …the community you deserve.

    …the success you deserve.

    …the health you deserve.

    …the love you deserve.

    …the fun you deserve.

    …the healing you deserve.

    …the celebration you deserve.

    …the freedom you deserve.

    …the wealth you deserve.

    …the patience you deserve.

I hope and trust you are open to receiving ease in:

    …the support you deserve.

    …the flexibility you deserve.

    …the justice you deserve.

    …the recognition you deserve.

    …the evolution you deserve.

    …the care you deserve.

    …the rest you deserve.

    …the luck you deserve.

Of course, this list is not exhaustive. I encourage you to add to it. Individually and collectively, I feel there are so many beautiful and good things about to blossom for everyone. With that in mind, I want to tell you congratulations in advance. I am so grateful for your presence. I am looking forward to all the magical adventures we are going to have during this time.

What are you looking forward to embodying with ease? Share with me. I love hearing from you.

    Can I Erase My Triggers

  • Own The Hiccups

Shoutout to the paparazzi for catching these angles. Shoutout to Miss Happy Anonymous for catching the frame. Shoutout to my makeup for staying put in this heat.

The bracelets are from Bandele Muse. My afrofuturistic boutique.

Now, time for a story that has nothing to do with these photos. Shall we?

My business website bandelemuse.com was flagged as dangerous by Norton Security. In big red letters. Like total Scarlet Letter vibes. I spent a week or so researching what to fix or edit on my site…but found no solutions.

Finally, I felt called to click on the Norton report. Found the button to submit a dispute. I thanked them for the report, noted this was my business, and asked why it was in the phishing category + what I need to fix this. The form states it takes 2 days for a response.

In one hour I received an email from Norton stating they reevaluated my site and changed the status to safe.

    Thus, my lesson in this….

When confronted with a hiccup, your first response does not always have to be “I will do it myself. I need to fix me.” It is possible that you are already safe and correct. A simple request (coming from a place of trust) could lead to the solution / guidance/ support you need.

    You’re welcome.

  • Why I Now Embrace My Seasons Of Life

Why I Now Embrace My Seasons Of Life

Can we take a moment to discuss time and productivity? This idea that the year is divided into 4 quarters and that we should be functioning at top productivity in all 4 quarters feels disconnected. A machine in this era can function this way. But, is that sustainable for all who are not machines?

Alternatively, what if we chose to experience time (and life) through seasons? There are 4 seasons in a year, which carry a spectrum of characteristics depending on which part of the world you live in. Similar to nature, certain things blossom and die during certain seasons. Could we humans do the same?

In this video, I share with you my experience in recognizing my life seasons and how to live more intentionally with them. I also share some questions to reflect on for you to adapt to your own unique seasons.

  • Everything Makes Sense

    Everything Makes Sense

With Accra ranking higher as one of the most expensive cities, everything makes sense.

That is why in Accra the dirt roads are made of gold dust, when it rains the city floods with diamonds, the monopolist who provides electricity keeps the price on, but the power off, and the boys on the street who get so easily agitated when I don’t pay them after they spray dirty water on my windshield pretending to clean it… actually live in mansions.

Everything makes sense. For a better life, some people in Accra take a private jet to visit colonizers to beg for “investments.” Some take economy class to visit colonizers to return with “expat salary status.” Others drown in Lampedusa to visit colonizers to work for “aid.”

Come to find out, there are more nuances than meets the eye. In the same Accra, there is a new bowling alley/fun center. Cranes are in the sky & new buildings are coming up. Detty December propaganda has already begun.

Can all of this happen in the same city? Will the movement outrun the chaos? Does the progress minimize the discrepancies? Find out next time on….kidding. This could be an entertaining show, right?

But, what do I know? I’m just a woman thinking out loud. A dangerous combination. So, let me stay in my lane, be cute, and post a photo looking cute. That is why we are here, yes? To continue the fantasy projected on the hologram of me. Because what else can we do with this knowledge?

P.S. I also wonder how interconnected we can be when multiple realities exist in this world. This past week, Ghana is grieving destructive floods, that happen at the same time every year in the same locations. This past week, Texas is grieving a mass shooting in a classroom, in a country where shootings spike every year in the same season. It is what it is. But it still does not need to be this way.
