  • Why Self Love Leads To Success

Why Self Love Leads To Success

It feels as if we are all searching for the perfect self-love routine. Bouncing back and forth between striving for a work-life balance and accepting you are not the only one out here who has no idea what they are doing. This never-ending cycle of deep quotes, trending starter kits, and virtual gurus makes me wonder if we are really making progress, or just (again) passively consuming what is convenient. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all answer to self love, but there is plenty of room for us to dig deeper to nurture our souls and refine our perspective in life.

Loving yourself should go beyond material things. It is fine to use quotes, incense, crystals, bubble baths, etc, but be careful of not getting so caught up in creating your self-love package that you forget to hold yourself accountable. Do you also meditate and journal? Are you taking your exercise and eating routine seriously? Are you being intentional with who and what you surround yourself with? Do you speak honestly to yourself?

The thing is, you can consume enough personal development information to last you several lifetimes. The key is how you implement that information. This is where trusting the process comes in. Being optimistic does not always have to correlate with being naive. Rather, I believe it means having strength in keeping the faith. Trust that everything will work out to your benefit as long as you honestly do your part. Heal the baggage you never realized you were carrying. Reflect on the lessons you have learned with every win and failure. Love yourself. Not just the persona you share with the public, but every aspect of your soul.

Once you do this, it will feel like abundance is falling out of the sky. I really feel that all of the blessings and opportunities that we wish for and have yet to imagine are already ours. They are all lined up waiting for us to be ready to receive them. When you love yourself and allow your mindset to evolve, you are open to receive all the good you deserve and know how to use it. So, go ahead and take that risk. It will all be worth it in the end.

The Royal African Experience: Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in South Africa

As seen on Munaluchi Bridal Magazine

Continuing to indulge in the riches of Africa, this week we are visiting South Africa at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. Located between the Twelve Apostles mountain range in the Table Mountain National Park and the Atlantic Ocean, this hotel and spa is home to luxury services and breathtaking views. All of the guest rooms are individually decorated to provide a unique experience. I know “Coming to America” was strictly entertainment, but some of these rooms remind me of the kingdom in that film. The different dining areas are also gorgeous and is recognized as one of South Africa’s top places to wine and dine. From every angle of this place, one can experience a romantic sunset, a fun day on the beach, or just a relaxing break.

    Music Spotlight:

Mafikizolo is a South African musical group that originally formed in the late 1990s. Their music puts a unique spin on the kwaito genre. This is their latest single and I love the beat as well as the colorful video. I also love the fashion style of the female singer in the group. Enjoy.

Temi DollFace is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, composer, and producer. She coins her style of music “Drama-Soul,” which, as you can hear, is highly influenced by Afro-beat. This is her latest single and everything, from the lyrics to the music to the imagery, is worth sharing. The title also caught my eye – as some of you might know, the legendary Miriam Makeba sang a song called “Pata Pata,” and I was interested to see what she was going to do with the song. Enjoy.

Safari Honeymoon: Chongwe River House in Zambia

This week we are indulging in another pearl of Africa. The Chongwe River House provides a breathtaking location to view the wonders of the Chongwe and Zambezi river. The home was created to complement its majestic surroundings without interfering with nature. The frame of the home was built with wild wood and all the furniture was carved from one fallen tree. It is almost like the best tree house you could ever imagine. They also provide a private vehicle, guides, canoes, and a boat to explore the park at your convenience. For those who really love the outdoors and talking to animals, the Chongwe River House would be the perfect honeymoon destination.

This week we are visiting Guinea and indulging in what I like to call luxury-hospitality-art. Sofitel Malabo Sipopo le Golf is a gorgeous destination with a private beach, tennis court, golf course, and luxurious rooms.  The entire building was designed with a wave-like shape to reflect contemporary African architecture and the sea that surrounds it, which I think gives it a modern and fresh feel.  The interior follows a similar theme with a mixture of elegant French style and African accents, bold color combinations, and a breathtaking view of the sea.  They also have fabulous rooms and services to host the best cocktail party.  I really love the architecture and decor of this place, it’s like a work of art.

    Music Spotlight:

The music in Guinea is heavily influenced by their historical connections with the Spanish, French, and Portuguese.  The majority of their music showcases soukous and makossa as well as reggae and rock.  Compared to other African countries, there is not a huge amount of music spreading from Guinea, but I have hope that will change as livelihoods improve and technology becomes more accessible (did you hear about Google’s latest Africa project?).

This song is a beautiful collaboration among three artsits from Guinea – Aicha KonéTakana Zion, Sekouba KK –  that has a Brazilian carnival flair as well as African island fun.

Did you ever wonder if you could combine the romantic elegance of Italy with the exotic beauty of East Africa for your wedding or honeymoon?  Well, The Lake Victoria Serena Resort in Uganda has everything to make that dream come true.  With rose gardens, multiple café and cocktail terraces, and a Roman fountain, this creme palace is a beautiful place to view Africa’s largest lake.

The rooms are housed in Tuscan villas spaced around the terraced rose gardens and all decorated with shades of cream and African accents.  There is also a wide and delicious variety of dining options with a mixture of international and Mediterranean cuisine using local and organic produce.  This resort pretty much features grande and intimate settings with every convenience possible for a great gala or small party.  From the pictures, it looks like the perfect luxurious relaxing spot to enjoy “The Switzerland of Africa.”

    Music Spotlight:

Lilian Mbabazi is a singer, member of the girl group Blu3 (dubbed Uganda’s Destiny’s Child) and a radio host.  She has a beautiful and passionate voice that really tells a story not only through the lyrics but also emotions.  I chose to share two of her songs because her music covers a variety of genres from Uganda.  I also love the imagery in both videos.

This song has a lovely African rhythm.  From what I read, she is singing about love and telling her leading man “I will take you as you are.”
